Central Stratford 2BR Retreat | Town Centre

Basic central apartment. Positive: The location was excellent - very central. Old fashioned secondary glazing kept the noise down on the busy Birmingham Road. Beds were really comfortable. It was a warm apartment. Plenty hot water. Negative: Once we had paid in full, we discovered there was an additional £75 to pay (non-refundable) or a £300 refundable deposit. This was not made clear before booking. I complained and repeatedly asked to speak to the host by telephone. They wouldn't answer the phone which seemed very odd. They were only happy to communicate by text. Eventually, they did wave this additional fee, agreeing it was unfair to disclose a damage deposit only after full payment. Therefore the price advertised was misleading. We were told a couple of days before arrival that there was, in fact, no WIFI in the apartment, though it was advertised as having WIFI at time of booking. The small green food bin hadn't been properly emptied/cleaned before we arrived so there were lots of tiny flies in the apartment for the duration of our 3 night stay.
